When a notebook pen loop does not fit your fountain pen
Thick fountain pens expose a basic weakness in many notebook pen holders: a secure fit for one barrel can be unusable for another.
Research boundary: Existing products already solve much of this category. This page documents tradeoffs and an unverified narrow hypothesis.
What to check
- Fixed elastic loops can be too tight for larger barrels.
- A wider loop may add bulk or let a slimmer pen move.
- Using the pen’s pocket clip avoids barrel limits but excludes clipless pens.
- Rigid metal holders can create a pressure point against soft covers.
